Best Overall Portable Blender

Cuisinart EvolutionX Cordless Blender

Pros
  • Compact design
  • Durable
  • Good for a variety of ingredients

The EvolutionX is indeed a highly evolved portable blender, keeping pace with our rigorous day-to-day activities. We love the slim design as well as the hushed sound while running, never interrupting a conversation or startling anybody within range. The durability is of notem and while we threw all kinds of ingredients at this machine, the blender never failed to produce a nice consistency (even with soup), and fast.

Sure, the blender is a tad heavy and expensive, but not when you take into account what it can do. We came away feeling like this one could not only produce the widest range of liquid beverages, but outlast all the others in doing do. An added bonus is the quick charge time, not to mention the modern design of this option.

While the model is not technically dishwasher safe, it does clean up quickly and without too much effort.

Best Portable Blender Lid

Pros
  • Functional lid
  • Removable blade
  • Good color options
  • Lightweight
Cons
  • Can struggle with ice

For those who like to customize, this portable blender is a safe bet. The five pastel color options are easy on the eyes, while the functional lid practically adapts to whatever you're drinking. Utilizing a vortex blending system, the blender turns out well-mixed drinks without wasting any time.

We like the fact that it's both dishwasher safe and has a self-cleaning function, as the latter is particularly good for when you're throwing a lot in there (produce like berry stems and spinach leaves are hard for a dishwasher to get). The stainless steel blade is built to last, and we found storing the thing in a gym bag or on the mesh of a backpack to be fuss-free.

Pros
  • Great blade motor
  • Travel lid included
  • Two blending speeds

If you like making an ice-cold smoothie, this is your go-to portable blender. A pair of blending speeds is a nice feature if you mix up a variety of different beverages and the motor is among the strongest we tested, using all 12 volts to puree things fast.

The model is a bit weighty and there are probably more accoutrements than one really needs. However, the lid is well designed and the asymmetrical blade crushes ice no problem. A loop on the travel lid means it can be affixed to your favorite bag, and the fact that it's from such a solid culinary brand gives us peace of mind.

Best Portable Blender for Protein Shakes

Hamilton Beach Portable Blender

Pros
  • Great with protein powders
  • Easy to use
  • Lightweight
Cons
  • Doesn't hold as much volume as others on the list

A major value, this portable blender does a lot for the money. Built with sleekness in mind, the thing is light without sacrificing too much in the way of power. The smaller volume presents a bit of an issue, but not when considering both the price point and resulting weight.

Boasting seven color options, the Hamilton Beach also touts more intricate volume marks on the jar itself. Experimenting with the thing, you might think it's too light or small to produce results but the 12-volt amperage created great smoothies over and over again. There's even a three-year warranty, some frosting on the cake, if you will. One big con, this blender doesn't hold as much as other options on this list.

Best Lightweight Portable Blender

Magic Bullet Portable Blender

Pros
  • Lightweight
  • Infuser basket
  • Flip and sip lid
Cons
  • Limited charge retention

Here's a blender that allows the user to flex their chef side a bit. The infuser basket is a nice addition, allowing you to inject your beverage with things like herbs for heightened aromatics and flavors.

We found the lid to be one of the easiest and most reliable to use, regardless of the contents, and the user guide—something easy to dismiss—is actually quite useful. The Magic Bullet presents a great value and the fact that it's shaped like a thermos makes it super portable and easy to store when not in use. In the battle of pros vs. cons, the former wins out by far.

Best Handling Portable Blender

Nutribullet Flip Portable Blender

Pros
  • Large volume
  • Handle on lid
  • Quiet
Cons
  • Not an outstanding value

Two main things stood out to us as impressive with this model. One, the larger volume, great if you like to pack a lot in a smoothie or just constantly have the hunger. Two, the almost silent sound of the motor, something you could practically sleep through (not a bad thing if you like to get started early in the morning, before others are up).

Issues? The price is a bit high all things considered but with an insulated cup, excellent lid, and flip and twist-off top, the nutribullet is actually kind of fun to use, something we can't always say about blenders.
